resident therapist specializes in cuddles and tail wags during stressful moments & always letting mom smell my paws because they smell like corn chips. fav anime: anything my mom’s watching as long as I have my lamb chop toy.when i was in middle school, being an anime fan wasn’t exactly 'cool.' people called me a weeb and made me feel like an outsider. but anime was my safe space!! it was where i felt understood. i loved wearing jewelry that reminded me of my favorite characters, but back then, it was always these huge pieces that felt impossible to pull off in real life.
i remember on multiple occasions, the “cool squad” in my school would tease me about the AOT necklace i wore every day. i loved it, but it was so big it felt like a spotlight was on me. i went home and grabbed a gold sharpie, trying to make it look less obvious, less like the thing everyone was judging me for. even then, i didn’t stop wearing it because it was my little connection to the stories that gave me comfort and plus it made me happy.
that’s why i started ukiiyo studio. as anime fans, we all have so many favorite characters, and it’s easy to end up with a whole collection of jewelry for every single one. i used to look at all my pieces and think, 'this could be simpler.' what if i could have just a few staple pieces and switch out the charms instead of buying something new every time?
